TEHRAN -- Secretary of the International Conference on Palestinian Human Rights, Fatemeh Haqiqatjoo said here on Saturday that 120 domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOS) will make efforts to establish a union to defend Palestinian rights.

The worldwide NGOS will hold a conference on human rights of the Palestinians in Tehran next Monday, April 23 ahead of the International Conference on Palestine slated for April 24-25.

Haqiqatjoo, who is also a member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis) told IRNA that the NGOS will also try to supervise the deplorable condition of human rights in the occupied territories.

Criticizing the international organizations and the so-called human rights organizations that are indifferently witnessing violation of rights of the oppressed Palestinian nation, she urged the international community to counter violation of the Zionist regime's commitments with regards to the Palestinians.

As to the support of the Iranian nation and government for the oppressed Palestinian nation, the MP said that the conference will be held through support provided by President Mohammad Khatami and Majlis Speaker Mahdi Karrubi.

Haqiqatjoo had previously told a press conference that NGOS from Iran, Germany, Switzerland, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Britain, Iraq, Kuwait, Egypt, Algeria, Malaysia, Sudan, Yemen and South Africa will take part in the conference. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) has also been invited to the conference, she added.

She said that the worldwide NGOS conference aims to render support for human rights of Palestinian people and children. It will exert pressure on international organizations to condemn the Zionist regime as well as the racism and terrorism being exercised against the Palestinian nation, she pointed out.

The one-day conference will seek support from governments to stop genocide of Palestinians and defend the rights of the Palestinians, she said.

She further said that the conference will also urge the UN to set up a war criminal tribunal on Palestine and bring to justice those who committed war crimes against the Palestinians.

She said that the Iranian political parties and university students from the Office to Foster Unity (OFU), the Islamic Association of the Students and the Leader's representative office at the universities will take part in the conference.

MP from Tehran Ali Akbar Musavi Khoiniha will undertake the presidency of the NGOS conference in Tehran.
